The foot sling is developed to assist dogs who suffer from hind paw knuckling. The sling prevents knuckling by supporting the foot, by the 2 centre digits, and is attached via an elastic adjustable cord to a strap wrapped around the hock.
Patients with the ability to bear weight on the limb (i.e. hock, stifle, and hip
extension) are candidates for the foot sling; these patients have diminished conscious
proprioception or loss of digital extensor function causing toe dragging and knuckling. The
foot sling provides sufficient lift to prevent trauma to nails and digits.
It is intended to prevent trauma to the digits during activity. It should
not be left on over‐night and is suggested to be used for no more than 3 continuous hours
